The Missing Link
The AEPA has received numerous requests for comment on the ongoing Letter 3 fiasco, especially the clarification letter sent to the American Eagle pilots by MEC Chairman Tony Gutierrez today, March 2, 2010

One pilot even included the salutation and opening lines of the above letter by Tony Gutierrez, reprinted below, to make sure that the AEPA commented on the correct letter.

To all American Eagle Pilots
I want to clarify the developments of the last several weeks. As you know, the MEC passed several resolutions at a meeting over one week ago.

On accessing the ALPA Eagle MEC web site home page the following link was found:

MEC Letter to EGL Pilots re: Letter 3, March 2, 2010 - Tuesday, March 02, 2010

Unfortunately when selecting the "read more" to access the above letter the following appeared:

The AEPA is at a loss for an explanation of how the above picture clarifies the developments of the last several weeks. The only conclusion that the AEPA can draw from the ALPA clarification is that the person depicted in the picture above is the authority consulted by ALPA and AE management on the original intent, negotiating history, the "up or out", the "flow being an 'obligation'" and "issue of 'irrevocabilty'".

The AEPA did study Letter 3/Supplement W, previous arbitration rulings and notes from 1997 and found no reference or mention of the above quoted phrases and words.

The AEPA will unfortunately have to wait for further clarification from ALPA before being able to comment on the ongoing Letter 3 fiasco.
